Feeling Good Is a Relative State of Mind

I don’t pay too much attention to local news via a newspaper or television, but I constantly listen to NPR and the BBC and read The Economist and The Week. What these media sources have in common is that they report on international issues. My focus is usually on the Big Picture and not so much on the details--and especially not on local details. Work Isn’t the Most Important Thing

Our society would like us to believe that we're defined by our careers and the contributions we can make through our work. Everything else we do is just slacking off, taking from society. Wrong! Society is defined by how we interact as a group, and how we progress toward the ideals that we hold. For instance, we in the US hold dear the concepts of freedom, equal opportunity, and fairness.
